PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME! AUDITIONS/AGENTS?? QUALIFICATION?

andrea a is completely wrong when she says "agencies dont look for anything 'too big'"; if that were the case, ANYONE could get an agent, and believe me 99% of actors never will-6 plays is nowhere near enough work to get an agent; the requirements to get an agency to sign you are far more extensive. first of all, youd need a very impressive resume with some PAID work on it, as well as both stage and on camera work. also, youd have to send in your pro headshots and demo reel to agencies only NEAR where you live- which means if you dont live in nyc, l.a. or chicago, you will not find much. competition for agencies is incredibly fierce- tens of thousands of actors submit to any one agency in the country and they choose between 3-8 new actors every 6 months to a year, so you cant just have a few plays on your resume. a school that costs that much is almost certainly a rip-off so dont go there, but you will need professional training. an agent is not possible until you build a much stronger resume. also, actress/singers and a dime a dozen, and the only real medium to succeed in both (if youre incredibly lucky) is musical theater- which is mainly a new york city thing. that means the agencies that will fit your needs will be in nyc almost strictly, and that means you must ive within 100 miles of nyc, AND have a resume so amazing you can beat out about 100,000 other actors dying to get agents. washington d.c. will not have many legit agencies, im afraid so you probably wont have options until youre an adult anyway; right now agencies shouldnt be your focus- building a decent resume should be
