Since the Columbine shooting and the Virginia Tech macre, what have schools done to impove our safety?

okay, im doing a project on school shootings, and if you guys can help and let me know what people have done since then to improve our schools id appreciate it. I know, they've put cameras and metal detectors in some schools, but what about schools who have no metal detectors, are they safe?
