Is my boyfriend messing with my head or does he really love me?

My boyfriend and I have been dating for around a year and a half and sometime he does things to me that make me upset or tell me weird things. I got a call from him one day telling me that I was cheating on him and I had never ever done that and he then tells me some one went to my msn and was telling ppl that I am cheating on james with his friend mitch and that wasn't on. I would never cheat on him after him being mad at me for a couple hours and I had finished crying he then calls me back and now he had made a big deal outta it with alot of ppl he tells me that he had wrote it and it did it to get my attention and see how i would react. I was so upset. Then a lil while back he comes over the phone and says that he is cheating on me and the girl is right there and i cried for an hour then calls back and says he was kidding. But other times he is so loving to me when i am with him he always says I love you and he always hugs me, we spend loads of time together. I dont know what 2 do?!
